Beef Powder Gelatin, 8 oz by Cake S.O.S

The first step to using Culinary Gelatine is to soak it in a cool liquid, for about 5 minutes or so, to hydrate it. This helps ensure it will dissolve easily. It is recommended you take this step: if you add the gelatine directly to a hot liquid, it can stick together and form lumps and be difficult to fully dissolve. After soaking the gelatine, simply heat the mixture - or add it directly to a hot liquid - and stir it continuously to dissolve the gelatin into your mixture. Gelatine is naturally very hydroscopic - it readily absorbs and retains water very easily - so be sure to store it in an airtight container in a dry, clean area. When stored correctly it can have a nearly indefinite shelf life! Powder Gelatine is unflavored, and is an excellent, versatile thickener for both sweet and savory cooking.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Sprinkle desired amount of Powder Gelatine evenly into cold water, or the liquid that needs to be set, in a small heatproof bowl (approximately 1/4 cup of water for every tbsp. of gelatine). Stir until the gelatin is fully incorporated and let sit for about 5 minutes. Depending on the recipe, add the paste immediately to a warm liquid and whisk to dissolve. Or, if adding to a cold mixture, place the bowl in a pan of barely simmering water and warm it until the gelatin has completely dissolved and turned transparent, approximately 5 minutes. Alternatively you can heat the paste in the microwave using 15 second bursts, until fully dissolved, then add to your mixture. DO NOT BOIL OR OVERHEAT THE GELATINE MIXTURE. This will reduce or destroy the the gelling ability. Once the gelatine is in liquid form, use it immediately. It will begin to thicken as it cools. If the gelatine sets up before use, reheat the gelatine to dissolve it again.
